FedEx, Ross Stores Net Rises

FedEx Corporation third quarter revenues rose 7% to $8.70 billion and net income rose 146.4% to $239 million or 76 cents a share. Ross Stores, Inc fourth quarter sales rose 14.4% to $1.98 billion and net income rose 46.7% to $142.9 million or $1.16 a share.

Casual Male Retail Group, Inc (CMRG: chart), a specialty retailer of big and tall men''s apparel reported fourth quarter sales fell 10% to $110.7 million from $123.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $3.6 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $108.0 million or $2.61 per share a year ago.

Comparable same-store sales decreased 8.2%.

Net sales for the year 2009 fell 11% to $395.2 million from $444.2 million a year ago. Net income for the year was $6.1 million or 14 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $109.3 million or $2.64 per share a year ago.

Comparable same-store sales decreased 7.9%.

Net sales for the year 2009 rose 3% to $9.08 billion from $8.81 billion a year ago. Net income for the year fell 5.2% to $377.3 million or $2.25 per diluted share compared to net income of $398.3 million or $2.38 per share a year ago.

GameStop Corp, in the last one year traded as high as $32.82 in April 2009 and as low as $17.12 in February 2010. Based on the yesterday’s closing price of $19.86 the company has market cap of $3.27 billion.

New York & Company, Inc (NWY: chart), a specialty retailer of women''s apparel reported fourth quarter sales fell 8% to $298.0 million from $325.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $2.5 million or 4 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $27.4 million or 46 cents per share a year ago.

Comparable same-store sales decreased 7.7%.

Net sales for the fiscal year 2009 fell 12% to $1.0 billion from $1.14 billion a year ago. Net loss for the year was $13.5 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $19.8 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.

Ross Stores, Inc (ROST: chart), the off-price retail apparel and home accessories store reported fourth quarter sales rose 14.4% to $1.98 billion from $1.73 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 46.7% to $142.9 million or $1.16 per diluted share compared to net income of $97.4 million or 76 cents per share a year ago.

Comparable same-store sales increased 10%.

Net sales for the year 2009 rose 10.6% to $7.18 billion from $6.49 billion a year ago. Net income for the year rose 45% to $442.8 million or $3.54 per diluted share compared to net income of $305.4 million or $2.33 per share a year ago.
