NOVEMBER 2005 CONSTRUCTION AT $1,146.4 BILLION ANNUAL RATE
The U.S. Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that construction spending during November 2005 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,146.4 billion, 0.2 percent (±1.4%)* above the revised October estimate of $1,144.2 billion. The November figure is 7.8 percent (±2.4%) above the November 2004 estimate of $1,063.4 billion.
During the first 11 months of this year, construction spending amounted to $1,031.2 billion, 9 percent (±1.6%) above the $946.3 billion for the same period in 2004.
PRIVATE CONSTRUCTION
Spending on private construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $892.4 billion, 0.2 percent (±1.3%)* above the revised October estimate of $891.0 billion. Residential construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $641.9 billion in November nearly the same (±1.3%)* as the revised October estimate of $642.1 billion. Nonresidential construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $250.5 billion in November, 0.6 percent (±1.3%)* above the revised October estimate of $249.0 billion.
PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION
In November, the estimated seasonally adjusted annual rate of public construction spending was $253.9 billion, 0.3 percent (±2.1%)* above the revised October estimate of $253.2 billion. Educational construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $66.5 billion, 1.3 percent (±3.2%)* above the revised October estimate of $65.7 billion. Highway construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $69.3 billion, 1.6 percent (±5.0%)* above the revised October estimate of $68.2 billion.
