Canada’s Cognos enjoyed a record-breaking earnings result, while Bed Bath & Beyond moderately followed on the upside. Profiting McCormick fell a penny behind estimates.

 
Paris-based Vivendi confirmed that it has targeted profitability for the fiscal year ahead, excluding extraordinary items. Additionally, the company said it intends to reduce net debt to €13 billion at the end of 2003 and further to €5 billion at the end of 2004.

The stock closed down 99 cents to $17.95 on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
