The Chubb Corporation first quarter net premiums written rose 1% to $2.77 billion and net income rose 36% to $464 million or $1.39 a share. Capital One Financial Corporation first quarter revenues rose 49% to $4.29 billion and net income was $636.3 million or $1.40 a share.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co (AJG: chart), the insurance broker said first quarter revenues rose 20.3% to $482.4 million from $401.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 10.6% to $29.2 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $26.4 million or 27 cents per share a year ago.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co, in the last one year traded as high as $26.35 in April 2010 and as low as $17.45 in April 2009. Based on the yesterday’s closing price of $26.31 the company has market cap of $2.70 billion.

Capital One Financial Corporation (COF: chart), the financial services company said first quarter revenues rose 49% to $4.29 billion from $2.88 billion a year ago.
