Big Lots, Inc fourth quarter sales fell 3% to $1.37 billion and net income fell 14.3% to $78.8 million or 96 cents a share. BJ''''s Wholesale Club, Inc fourth quarter revenues rose 3.2% to $2.56 billion and net income rose 5% to $52.7 million or 91 cents a share.

Big Lots, Inc, the nation''s largest broadline closeout retailer reported fourth quarter sales fell 3% to $1.37 billion from $1.41 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 14.3% to $78.8 million or 96 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $92.0 million or $1.04 per share a year ago.

Net sales for the fiscal year 2008 fell 0.4% to $4.64 billion from $4.66 billion a year ago. Net income for the fiscal year 2008 fell 4.4% to $151.5 million $1.85 per diluted share compared to net income of $158.5 million or $1.55 per share a year ago.

Big Lots, Inc (BIG: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $35.33 in June 2008 and as low as $12.62 in February 2009. Based on the yesterday''s closing price of $14.54 the company has market cap of $1.19 billion.

BJ''s Wholesale Club, Inc, the nation''s third biggest warehouse club reported fourth quarter revenues rose 3.2% to $2.56 billion from $2.48 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 5% to $52.7 million or 91 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $50.2 million or 80 cents per share a year ago.

Comparable same store sales rose 1.7%.

Total revenues for the fiscal year 2008 rose 11% to $10.0 billion from $9.01 billion a year ago. Net income for the fiscal year 2008 rose 9.5% to $134.6 million $2.28 per diluted share compared to net income of $122.9 million or $1.90 per share a year ago.

BJ''s Wholesale Club, Inc (BJ: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $44.29 in July 2008 and as low as $27.26 in March 2009. Based on the yesterday''s closing price of $27.44 the company has market cap of $1.61 billion.

Brown Shoe Company, Inc, a footwear industry reported fourth quarter sales fell 8.8% to $521.0 million from $571.4 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $153.0 million or $3.68 per diluted share compared to net income of $14.0 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.

Net sales for the fiscal year 2008 fell 3.4% to $2.28 billion from $2.36 billion a year ago. Net loss for the fiscal year 2008 was $133.2 million $3.21 per diluted share compared to net income of $60.4 million or $1.37 per share a year ago.
