BJ’s Wholesale, Deere Net Falls

BJ’s Wholesale Club second quarter sales fell 5% to $2.51 billion and net income fell 3.8% to $35.1 million or 64 cents a share. Deere & Company third quarter revenues fell 24% to $5.89 billion and net income fell 27% to $420 million or 99 cents a share.

BJ’s Wholesale Club, the warehouse chain reported second quarter sales fell 5% to $2.51 billion from $2.64 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 3.8% to $35.1 million or 64 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $36.5 million or 61 cents per share a year ago.

BJ’s Wholesale Club (BJ: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $41.04 in September 2008 and as low as $27.44 in March 2009. Based on the yesterday’s closing price of $31.32 the company has market cap of $1.74 billion.

Deere & Company, the farm equipment maker reported third quarter revenues fell 24% to $5.89 billion from $7.74 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 27% to $420 million or 99 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $575.2 million or $1.32 per share a year ago.

Deere & Company (DE: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $71.01 in August 2008 and as low as $24.83 in March 2009. Based on the yesterday’s closing price of $45.09 the company has market cap of $19.06 billion.

Eaton Vance Corp, the investment management firm reported third quarter revenues rose 19% to $228.4 million from $282.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 37% to $31.2 million or 26 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $49.6 million or 40 cents per share a year ago.

Eaton Vance Corp (EV: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $41.00 in September 2008 and as low as $12.36 in November 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price of $28.98 the company has market cap of $3.40 billion.
