Aetna Inc, the health insurer reported fourth quarter revenues rose 9% to $7.76 billion from $7.14 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 57% to $194.7 million or 42 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $448.4 million or 87 cents per share a year ago.

Revenues for the fiscal year 2008 rose 12% to $31 billion from $27.6 billion a year ago. Net income for the fiscal year 2008 fell 24% to $1.38 billion $2.84 per diluted share compared to net income of $1.83 billion or $3.47 per share a year ago.
