ARLP is a diversified producer and marketer of coal to major United States utilities and industrial users.
ARLP currently operates seven underground mining complexes in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Maryland and one surface mining operation in Kentucky. ARLP is currently developing two additional underground mines, one in Kentucky and one in West Virginia. Its mining activities are conducted in three geographic regions commonly referred to in the coal industry as the Illinois Basin, Central Appalachia and Northern Appalachia regions.
