February retail sales were in general weaker than estimates of the most
analysts primarily due to the tougher weather conditions and rising energy
cost. Teenage retailers fared the worst. Discounters, luxury stores, and
mid-priced department store reported rising sales. Largest retailers
Wal-Mart and Costco reported healthy gains.
