| The changing landscape of telecom service providers changed again. The AT&T is in merger talks to acquire BellSouth for $67 billion. The combined company will have customers in twenty two states with more than 70 millon residential lines, 2 million business lines, 9 million DSL Internet lines and 53 million wireless customers through its wholly owned unit Cingular. The merger benefits to customers are still not known. |

| February retail sales were in general weaker than estimates of the most
analysts primarily due to the tougher weather conditions and rising energy
cost. Teenage retailers fared the worst. Discounters, luxury stores, and
mid-priced department store reported rising sales. Largest retailers
Wal-Mart and Costco reported healthy gains. |
