In the overall difficult market for IPOs this week India-based WNS Holdings made a strong first-day performance on Wednesday, supported by investor confidence in the potential of the offshore business process outsourcing industry. The company''''s American Depositary Shares rose more than 22% to $24.50 on the New York Stock Exchange.
A hundred and thirteen companies have launched IPOs so far in 2006, and only 38% of them are currently trading above their offering price. The new deals of the week were also following the trend - all four deals are trading at their initial price or below that.
Shares of Valero GP Holdings and Cowen Group closed the week unchanged from their IPO price. Ascent Solar fell down 5%. A hundred and nine companies have launched IPOs so far in 2006, and 49% of them are currently trading above their offering price.
