Construction Spending Increase 0.8% in April

| Spending on private construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $657.3 billion, 1.4% above the revised March estimate of $648.2 billion. |

| The U.S. Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that construction spending during April 2009 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $968.7 billion, 0.8% above the revised March estimate of $961.3 billion. |

ISM Index Rises to 42.8 in May

| ISM's New Orders Index registered 51.1% in May, 3.9 percentage points higher than the 47.2% registered in April. |

| Manufacturing contracted in May as the PMI registered 42.8%, which is 2.7 percentage points higher than the 40.15 reported in April. This is the 16th consecutive month of contraction in the manufacturing sector. |

Personal Income Rises 0.5%
