Q3 GDP Growth Increased to 2.0%

U.S. economy expanded at 2.0% in the third quarter after surging at 1.7% in the second. The price index of gross domestic purchases increased 0.6% in the quarter compared to 0.9% in the second. Change in private inventories added 1.44% compared to 0.82% in the second.

Weekly Jobless Claims Falls 21,000

Seasonally adjusted weekly jobless claims decreased 21,000 to 434,000 from the revised previous week claims of 455,000. The preliminary insured unemployment rate in the week ending October 16 changed to 3.5% from the prior week''s revised rate of 3.6%.

Weekly Crude Inventories Rise 5.0 mb

Crude oil inventories at the end of last week increased 5.0 million barrels to 366.2 million barrels. Motor Gasoline inventories decreased 4.4 million barrels and that of finished gasoline decreased and distillate decreased by 1.6 million barrels.

September New Home Sales Rise 6.6%

Seasonally adjusted new home sales in September rose 6.6% to 307,000 and decreased 21.5% from a year ago. The median sale price of new homes sold in the month was $223,800 and average price was $257,500 with eight months of inventory.

September Durable Orders Rise 3.3%

September durable goods orders increased 3.3% or $6.3 billion to $199.2 billion, this follows three consecutive monthly declines and 1.0% fall in August. Orders excluding transportation orders decreased 0.8% and defense rose 2.9%.

September Home Sales Increased 10.0%

Seasonally adjusted annual rate for existing home sales in September increased 10.0% to 4.53 million from 4.12 million units in August, but 19.1% lower from a year ago of 5.60 million units rate in the month.

Weekly Jobless Claims Falls 23,000

Seasonally adjusted weekly jobless claims decreased 23,000 to 452,000 from the revised previous week claims of 475,000. The preliminary insured unemployment rate in the week ending October 9 unchanged to 3.5% from the prior week''s unrevised rate of 3.5%.

Housing Starts Increased 0.3% in September

Housing permits in September decreased 5.6% from August or 10.9% a year ago month to 539,000. Housing starts in September increased 0.3% from August. Housing completion rose 7.3% from August or fell 10.1% from a year ago month to 648,000.
