Existing Home Sales Advance 0.4% in November

The median existing single-family home price was $208,700 in November, down 3.7% from a year earlier.
Total existing-home sales – including single-family, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops – rose 0.4% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.00 million units in November from an upwardly revised pace of 4.98 million in October, but are 20% below the 6.25 million-unit level in November 2006.

New Home Sales Tumble 9% in November

The median sales price of new houses sold in November 2007 was $239,100; the average sales price was $293,300.
Sales of new one-family houses in November 2007 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 647,000, according to estimates released jointly today by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This is 9.0% below the revised October rate of 711,000 and is 34.4% below the November 2006 estimate of 987,000.

Gasoline Inventories Gain

Distillate fuel inventories decreased by 2.8 million barrels, and are near the lower limit of the average range for this time of year.
U.S. commercial crude oil inventories dropped by 3.3 million barrels compared to the previous week.At 293.6 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are in the lower half of the average range for this time of year. Total motor gasoline inventories increased by 0.7 million barrels last week, but are in the lower half of the average range. Finished gasoline inventories fell last week while gasoline blending components inventories increased during this same period.

Personal Income Rises 0.4% in November

Personal consumption expenditures increased $110.6 billion, or 1.1%.
Personal income increased $43.1 billion, or 0.4%, and disposable personal income increased $32.9 billion, or 0.3%, in November, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In October, personal income increased $24.8 billion, or 0.2%, DPI increased $17.0 billion, or 0.2%, and PCE increased $39.4 billion, or 0.4%, based on revised estimates.

Jobless Claims Advance 12,000

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.0% for the week ending Dec. 8, unchanged from the last week unrevised rate of 2.0%.
In the week ending Dec. 15, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 346,000, an increase of 12,000 from the previous week''''s revised figure of 334,000. The 4-week moving average was 343,000, an increase of 4,250 from the previous week''''s unrevised average of 338,750.

Gross Domestic Product Rises 4.9% in Q3 -Final

In the second quarter, real GDP increased 3.8%.
Real gross domestic product - the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States - increased at an annual rate of 4.9% in the third quarter of 2007, according to final estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Distillate fuel inventories decreased by 2.1 million barrels, and are in the lower half of the average range for this time of year.
U.S. commercial crude oil inventories dropped by 7.6 million barrels compared to the previous week. At 296.9 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are in the lower half of the average range for this time of year. Total motor gasoline inventories increased by 3.0 million barrels last week, but are in the lower half of the average range. Both finished gasoline inventories and gasoline blending components inventories increased during this period.

Housing Starts Decrease 3.7% in November

Privately-owned housing units authorized by building permits in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,152,000.
Housing starts in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,187,000. This is 3.7% below the revised October estimate of 1,232,000, and is 24.2% below the revised November 2006 rate of 1,565,000. Single-family housing starts in November were at a rate of 829,000; this is 5.4% below the October figure of 876,000.The November rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 332,000.

Industrial Production Grows 0.3% in November

Output in the manufacturing sector increased 0.4% in November.
Industrial production increased 0.3% in November; the change in production over the previous three months was revised down, on net, an average of 0.1% per month. At 113.9% of its 2002 average, total industrial production in November was 2.1% above its year-earlier level. The output of utilities dropped 1.3% because of a decline in electric utilities; the output at mines increased 1.1%.

Consumer Price Index Rises 0.8% in November

The index for petroleum based energy rose 9.5% and the index for energy services, 0.7%.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the CPI-U increased 0.8% in November, its largest advance since a 1.2% rise in September 2005.The index for energy advanced 5.7% and accounted for nearly 70% of the overall CPI increase in November. The food index rose 0.3% in November. The index for all items less food and energy advanced 0.3% in November, following increases of 0.2% in each of the preceding five months.
