2:25PM New York – Alpha Natural Resources and Continental Resources rose after earnings.
Alpha Natural Resources, Inc., an Appalachian coal supplier today reported first quarter of 2008 revenue rose 20% to $516.9 million, from $430.6 million in the year-ago period.
Net income increased to $25.5 million or 39 cents per share, compared with $8.3 million or 13 cents per share, in the same period of a year ago.
Alpha Natural Resources stock (
ANR) rose $4.39 to $54.93.
Atlas Pipeline Partners, LP, a provider of natural gas gathering services today reported first quarter of 2008 revenue of $303.3 million an increase of 61.2% compared with $117.5 million a year ago.
In the quarter the company recorded a net loss of $2.82 million or 10 cents per share compared with net income of $2.7 million or 13 cents per share a year ago.
Atlas Pipeline stock (
APL) fell $1.17 to $41.94.
Buckeye Technologies Inc, a manufactures and distributes specialty and non-woven material today reported third quarter of 2008 sales rose 5% to $201.9 million from $193 million a year ago.
Net income in the quarter was $10.4 million or 26 cents per share from $6.6 million or 17 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier.
Buckeye Technologies stock (
BKI) fell 21 cents to $8.41.
Continental Resources, Inc., an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company today reported total revenues for the first quarter of 2008 were $227.7 million, an increase of 88% compared to $121.1 million a year ago.
Net income in the quarter rose to $88.0 million or $0.52 per diluted share from $53.8 million or $0.34 per share a year ago.
Continental Resources (
CTR) stock rose $6.09 or 13% to $49.92.
Citizens Communications Company, a telecommunications company today reported revenue for the first quarter of 2008 increased 2% to $569.2 million compared to $556.1 million a year ago.
Net income fell to $45.6 million or 14 cents a share from $67.7 million or 21 cents a share at the same point a year ago.

CZN) fell 83 cents to $10.47.
Nam Tai Electronics, Inc., an electronics manufacturing and design services provider today reported net sales in the first quarter of 2008 fell 23% to $147.1 million from $191.6 million a year ago.
Net income was $28.4 million, or 63 cents per share, compared with $8.4 million, or 19 cents per share, a year earlier.
Nam Tai stock (
NAM) fell $1.08 to $10.06.
Tidewater Inc, an offshore supply vessels and marine support services provider today reported fourth quarter of 2008 revenue rose 13% to $331.4 million, from $293.5 million last year.
