The Anglo-Dutch consumer goods company Unilever, with multiple brands, including Dove soap, Magnum ice-cream and Lipton tea, said Friday its net profit in the first quarter climbed 24%.

Unilever's (UN: chart) net profit totaled 934 million euros ($1.21 billion), up vs. 753 million euros, while net sales climbed 4% to 9.27 billion euros ($12.07 billion) vs. 9.06 billion euros.

Emeryville, California-based Pixar Animation Studios (PIXR: chart) said 1Q earnings and revenue tripled on strong home-video sales of 'The Incredibles', one of the company’s latest movies. The company also announced that it had started informal conversations with Walt Disney Co. that could result in a new distribution deal with the Hollywood studio.

Pixar reported 1Q net income of $81.9 million, or 67 cents a share, versus net income of $26.7 million, or 23 cents a share, a year ago. The results topped both Pixar's forecast and the consensus anaysts’ estimate.

Revenue climbed to $161.2 million from $53.8 million, well ahead of the $116 million forecast by analysts. The strong results sent the company shares up 4.8% to $48.50 in after-hours trading.

Antivirus software maker McAfee Inc. (MFE: chart) said Thursday that 1Q earnings declined 38% from the year-earlier period. Net income dropped to $35.9 million, or 21 cents per share, versus $58 million, or 33 cents per share, a year earlier. Excluding items, the company earned $45.6 million, or 27 cents per share, in the latest quarter, up vs. $20.9 million, or 11 cents per share. Revenue increased to $235.7 million vs. $219.1 million last year.

Analysts were looking for the company to report earnings of 19 cents per share on sales of $216.8 million in the latest quarter. McAfee expects to post operating profit of 24 cents per share on revenue of $220 million to $230 million in 2Q. The company also boosted full year operating earnings estimates to between $1.15 and $1.20 per share on revenue of $955 million to $975 million.

The business management company S1 Corp. (SONE: chart) reported 1Q results that missed expectations and gave an outlook that was below analyst forecasts. The company reported 1Q earnings of $444,000, or 1 cent a share, vs. $720,000, or 1 cent a share, in the same period a year earlier.
