Tekelec Net Loss Narrows

Roper Industries (ROP), diversified industrial manufacturer, said that its fourth-quarter net income increased to $56.7 million, or 62 cents per share, compared with $50.4 million, or 57 cents per share, for the fourth quarter 2005. Revenue for the quarter was $465.5 million, up 18% from $393.2 million in the year-ago period.

Premiere Global Services Inc. (PGI), provider of business communication services, said that its fourth-quarter net earnings declined to $5.13 million, or 8 cents per share, compared with $12.5 million, or 17 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, the company reported a per-share profit of 17 cents. Revenue climbed to $127.1 million versus $117.2 million in the same period a year earlier.

Champion Industries Inc. (CHMP), engages in commercial printing, manufacture of business forms, and supply of office products and office furniture, said that its first-quarter net profit increased to $1.27 million or 13 cents per share, compared with $1.15 million, or 12 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue declined to $34.9 million versus $36.3 million in the year-ago period.

Tekelec (TKLC), telecommunications equipment, said that its fourth-quarter net loss narrowed to $1.25 million, or 2 cents per share, versus a net loss of $47.9 million, or 72 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, Tekelec reported earnings of $7.2 million, or 10 cents per share, compared with $3.1 million, or 5 cents per share, last year. Revenue climbed to $154.5 million versus $138.6 in the year ago period.

Dorman Products Inc. (DORM), parts distributor to automotive retailers, reported fourth-quarter net income of $4.9 million, or 27 cents a share, up from $4.4 million, or 24 cents, earned in the same period during 2005. Quarterly sales reached $77.9 million, up 5% from the prior year in a reflection of stronger orders for the manufacturer of parts for the automotive aftermarket.
