IQW: chart), commercial print media services company, said that its third-quarter net earnings from continuing operations fell to $19.2 million, or 9 cents per share, compared with $30.9 million, or 16 cents per share, in the year-ago period. The company posted revenue of $1.55 billion versus $1.58 billion during the year-ago period.
Frontier Oil Corp. (
FTO: chart), oil refiner, said that its third-quarter earnings rose to $120.9 million, or $1.08 per share, compared with a year-ago profit of $109.2 million, or 95 cents per share. Revenue increased to $1.38 billion from $1.19 billion in the same period a year earlier.
CapitalSource Inc. (
CSE: chart), financial products provider, said third-quarter earnings increased versus the year earlier, helped by fee income and equity gains in its investment portfolio. The company reported net income of $80.9 million, or 47 cents per share, compared with $28.1 million, or 24 cents per share, the year-earlier quarter.
International Game Technology (
IGT: chart), computerized gaming machines maker, said that its fourth-quarter earnings increased to $114.9 million, or 33 cents per share, versus a year-ago profit of $105.4 million, or 30 cents per share. Total revenue climbed 5% to $638.7 million compared with $607.6 million in the same period a year earlier.
Dobson Communications Corp. (
DCEL: chart), wireless phone service provider, reported third-quarter net income of $25.9 million, or 14 cents per share compared with a net loss of $65.9 million or 45 cents per share in the same quarter last year. Revenue climbed to $336.4 million from $315.8 million in the year-ago quarter.
Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. (
SCHN: chart), scrap steel and iron processor, said that its fourth-quarter net income increased 46% to $50 million, or $1.62 per share, compared with $34 million, or $1.11 per share, in the year-earlier quarter. Revenues more than tripled to $605 million versus $196 million in the same period a year ago.
Bookham Inc. (
BKHM: chart), telecommunications equipment components provider, said that its first-quarter net loss of $22.9 million, or 38 cents per share, versus a net loss of $500,000, or 2 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue declined to $56.4 million, compared with $62.6 million in the same period last year.
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Corp. (
WPSC: chart), steel maker, reported a third-quarter profit of $17 million, or $1.14 per share compared to a net loss of $21.1 million or $1.47 per share in the year-ago period. Revenue climbed 29% to $482.7 million from $374.9 million in the same quarter a year ago.
