Oracle Rises, IHS Plunges

10:00AM New York - Electroglas Inc revenue fell 30% and net loss was $4.5 million. IHS Inc revenue rose 13% and net income fell 3.22%. Oracle Corporation revenue rose 18% and net income rose 28%.

Electroglas Inc, a supplier of wafer probing and software solutions for the semiconductor industry said first quarter revenues fell 30% to $8.4 million from $10.4 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $4.5 million or 17 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $3.2 million or 13 cents per share, a year ago.

Electroglas Inc (EGLS) in the last one year traded as high as $2.70 in September 2007 and as low as $0.88 in September 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $27.72 million.

IHS Inc, a provider of technical information to the energy and defense industries said third quarter revenues rose 13% to $207.4 million from $183.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 3.22% to $21 million or 33 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $21.7 million or 35 cents per share, a year ago.

IHS Inc (IHS) in the last one year traded as high as $72.19 in December 2007 and as low as $52.18 in September 2007. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $3.78 billion.

Oracle Corporation, the business software maker said first quarter revenues rose 18% to $5.33 billion from $4.5 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 28% to $1.08 billion or 21 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $840 million or 16 cents per share, a year ago.

Oracle Corporation (ORCL) in the last one year traded as high as $23.62 in August 2008 and as low as $17.84 in March 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $96.79 billion.

Palm, Inc, the maker of smart phones said first quarter revenues rose 1.6% to $366.9 million from $360.8 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $41.9 million or 39 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $841,000 or 1 cent per share, a year ago.

Palm, Inc (PALM) in the last one year traded as high as $9.93 in September 2007 and as low as $4.21 in January 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $921.99 million.

Peerless Systems Corporation, a provider of imaging and networking technologies to the digital document market said second quarter revenues fell 52% to $3.3 million from $6.9 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $0.5 million or 3 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $1.2 million or 7 cents per share, a year ago.
