Hartmarx Posts 95% Lower Profit

Radware fourth-quarter profit plunged 95%, weighed down by stock options expenses and flat sales. Silicom fourth-quarter boosted by record revenue. Gentex fourth-quarter profit rose 4% on a rise in revenue. Hartmarx fourth-quarter profit tumbled on costs related to a plant closing and the liquidation of discontinued brands.

 
Radware Ltd. (RDWR: chart), hardware and software provider, said that its fourth quarter net earnings declined to $110,000, or a penny per share, compared with $2.35 million, or 12 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding stock-based compensation, profit came in at 16 cents per share compared with 47 cents per share last year. Revenue climbed to $21.09 million versus $21.04 million in the same period a year earlier.

Silicom Ltd. (SILC: chart), high-performance server and appliances networking solutions provider, said that its fourth-quarter net earnings increased to $1.07 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $473,000, or 11 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue jumped to $5.02 million compared to $3.13 million a year ago.

Gentex Corp. (GNTX: chart), automotive and commercial fire protection products maker, posted higher fourth-quarter profit and sales thanks to increased demand for the company''s higher margin mirrors. Mirror shipments climbed 5% despite the steep automotive production cuts that slammed the domestic auto industry. Gentex reported a profit of $30.8 million, or 22 cents per share, compared with $29.6 million, or 19 cents per share, a year ago. Revenue jumped 8% to $149.6 million from $138.3 million in the year-ago period.

Hartmarx Corp. (HMX: chart), apparel maker, said that its fourth-quarter earnings fell 95% on 4.4% higher revenue. For the quarter earnings were $331,000, or a penny per share, versus $7.3 million, or 20 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $163.4 million from $156.5 million in the same period a year earlier.
