Calgon Carbon reported a wider third-quarter loss, driven by increased severance and pension expenses. American Woodmark remodeling sales helped second-quarter earnings to increase 49% year-over-year. Retalix swung to a third-quarter loss as product sales tumbled and costs increased. Frontline third-quarter earnings leapt 34% on strong shipping rates.

Calgon Carbon Corp. (CCC: chart), air and water filter maker, said that its third-quarter loss widened to $458,000, or 1 cent per share, from a loss of $353,000, or 1 cent per share, in the year-ago quarter. Quarterly revenue climbed to $79.7 million from $68.9 million a year earlier.

American Woodmark Corp. (AMWD: chart), kitchen and bath cabinets maker, reported second-quarter net income of $9.19 million, or 57 cents per share, from $6.17 million, or 37 cents per share. Revenue edged down 2% to $210.8 million, from $214.5 million last year. The profit rise and sales decline came as it continued its previously announced transition out of certain low-margin products.

Retalix Ltd. (RTLX: chart), software maker for food retailers and distributors, recorded a third-quarter loss $1.1 million, or 5 cents per share, compared with net income of $4.2 million, or 21 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue declined 2.4% to $50.4 million from $51.6 million. Adjusted earnings were 4 cents per share against 24 cents per share.

Frontline (FRO: chart), oil tanker company, said that its third-quarter net profit increased 33.9% to $98.8 million as revenue climbed 38.8% to $404.7 million. Profit reflected the drydocking of seven vessels in the quarter, resulting in roughly 311 days of lost income. Revenue grew 39% to $404.7 million from 291.5 million a year earlier.
