Automatic Data Processing, Inc, a payroll processing service provider reported fourth quarter revenues increased 10% to $2.21 billion from $2.00 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter increased 16.66% to $234 million or 45 cents per share compared to net income of $195 million or 35 cents per share, a year ago.
Revenues grew over 10% to $2.21 billion, compared with the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007, with 2% gain in foreign exchange. Net earnings from continuing operations increased 17% to $226.0 million. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations grew 23% to $0.43 from $0.35 a year ago on fewer weighted-average diluted shares outstanding. ADP acquired 9.59 million shares of its stock for treasury for $411.9 million.
