Cummins Inc, a maker of diesel engines reported second quarter earnings rose 37% to $293 million or $1.49 a share and revenue rose 16% to $3.89 billion. Cummins surged as much as 13% on the report. Moodys, rating agency at the center of credit market crisis, seconf quarter revenue fell 25% to $487 million and net income declined 48% to $135 million or 54 cents a share. Comcast Corp, largest cable company, second quarter revenue rose 11% and earnings increased 8%.

Comcast Corporation, the nation''s largest cable operator reported second quarter revenues rose 11% to $8.55 billion from $7.71 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter increased 8% to $632 million or 21 cents per share compared to net income of $588 million or 19 cents per share, a year ago.

Cummins Inc, a maker of diesel engines and related components reported second quarter sales rise of 16% to $3.89 billion from $3.34 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter increased 37% to $293 million or $1.49 per share compared to net income of $214 million or $1.06 per share, a year ago.

Moody''s Corporation, a provider of credit ratings and financial analytics reported second quarter revenues declined 25% to $487.6 million from $646.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 48% to $135.2 million or 54 cents per share compared to net income of $261.9 million or 95 cents per share, a year ago.

The Timberland Company, Apparel and footwear maker reported second quarter revenues fell 6.3% to $209.9 million from $224.1 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $18.9 million or 32 cents per share compared to net loss of $19.2 million or 31 cents per share, a year ago.
