10:00AM New York – Big Lots sales increased 2% and net income rose 2.4%. Chico’s FAS sales decreased 7.1% and net income declined 83%. Smithfield Foods, Inc sales increased 16.12% and net loss was $12.6 million. American Eagle Outfitters, Inc sales decreased 2% and net income declined 22%.

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc, a retailer that operates under the American eagle Outfitters reported second quarter sales decreased 2% to $688.8 million from $703.2 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter declined 22% to $59.8 million or 29 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $81.3 million or 37 cents per share, a year ago.

Comparable store sales decreased 9%.

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc (AEO) in the last one year traded as high as $27.29 in September 2007 and as low as $11.87 in July 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $2.83 billion.

Bank of Montreal, a diversified North American financial services provider reported third quarter net income declined 27% to $521 million or 98 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $660 million or $1.28 per share, a year ago.
