7:30PM Mumbai - Bharti Airtel revenue grew 42% for the quarter ended December 31, 2007.
Bhati Airtel Ltd. reported 42% growth in revenue for the quarter ended December 2007 at 6,964 crore rupees from 4.382 crore rupees in the previous year. For the quarter, Bharti net profit climbed 42% to 1,722 crore rupees from 1,215 rupees in a year ago period.
Cash profit from operations stood at 2.892 core rupees up from 2.137 crore rupees in the previous comparable period.
In the quarter, adjusted EBITDA advanced 48% to 2.963 crore rupees in the year ago period at 2.025 core rupees.
In the nine months, revenues surged 46% to 19,206 crore rupees while net profit jumped 67% to 4.848 crore rupees for the nine months.
Airtel Limited, a group company of Bharti Enterprises said it had 5.7 crore customers, as of December 31, 2007, reflecting an increase in the total customer base of 70%, over the corresponding period last year.
The company said it has also maintained its leadership position through an improved market share of all India wireless subscribers at 23.6% as of December 31, 2007, up from 21.8% a year earlier.
Data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India shows that Bharti increased its subscriber base with 6.28 million while its closet competitor Reliance Communications had 4.64 million additions. It has 23.6% market share in India telecommunications industry.

The mobile business provides mobile and fixed wireless services using GSM technology across 23 telecom circles.
The Telemedia business provides Telemedia services in 94 cities and is foraying into the IPTV and DTH segments. The Enterprise services provide end-to-end telecom solutions to corporate customers and national & international long distance services to carriers.
These services are provided under the Airtel brand. Airtel''s high-speed optic fibre network currently spans over 67,138 kilometeres covering all the major cities in the country.
The company has two international landing stations in Chennai that connects two submarine cable systems - to Singapore and SEA-ME-WE-4 to Europe. |
