Accenture Rises 6%, Christopher Banks Drops 7%

12:10AM New York - Accenture Ltd revenue rose 17% and net income rose 37%. Christopher & Banks Corporation revenue fell 7% and net income fell 76%.

Accenture Ltd, a management consulting, technology services and outsourcing organization said fourth quarter revenues rose 17% to $6 billion from $5.11 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 37% to $434.8 million or 67 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $316.8 million or 50 cents per share, a year ago.

Net revenues for fiscal 2008 were $23.39 billion, compared with $19.70 billion for fiscal 2007, an increase of 19% in U.S. dollars and 11% in local currency. Diluted earnings per share for the full fiscal year were $2.65 compared to $1.97 for fiscal 2007, an increase of 35%.

Accenture expects net revenues in the first quarter of 2009 in the range of $6.15 billion to $6.35 billion, which assumes a foreign-exchange impact of negative 1 percent to positive 1 percent compared with the first quarter of fiscal 2008. The company expects diluted EPS for the full fiscal year to be in the range of $2.85 to $2.93. Accenture expects operating margin for the full fiscal year to be in the range of 13% to 13.3%.

Christopher & Banks Corporation, a retailer of women’s apparel said second quarter revenues fell 7% to $131.6 million from $141.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 76% to $0.8 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $3.4 million or 9 cents per share, a year ago. Comparable same-store sales for the quarter fell 13%.

Christopher & Banks Corporation (CBK) in the last one year traded as high as $16.68 in December 2007 and as low as $6.60 in July 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $306.69 million.

The Finish Line, Inc, an athletic shoe retailer said second quarter revenues rose 4% to $353.3 million from $340.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $13.1 million or 24 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $1.8 million or 4 cents per share, a year ago.

Comparable same-store sales for the quarter increased 4.7%.

The Finish Line, Inc (FINL) in the last one year traded as high as $12.43 in August 2008 and as low as $1.48 in January 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $573.65 million.

Research In Motion Limited, a wireless device maker said second quarter revenues rose 88% to $2.58 billion from $1.37 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 72% to $495.5 million or 86 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $287.7 million or 50 cents per share, a year ago.

Research In Motion Limited (RIMM) in the last one year traded as high as $148.13 in June 2008 and as low as $80.20 in January 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $55.10 billion.

SMART Modular Technologies Inc, a chipmaker said fourth quarter sales fell 5% to $160.7 million from $168.7 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $3.5 million or 6 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $13.6 million or 21 cents per share, a year ago.

Net sales for the fiscal year were $670.2 million, compared to $844.6 million for fiscal year 2007. For fiscal year 2008, SMART reported net income of $9.0 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, compared to $57.7 million, or $0.91 per diluted share in fiscal 2007.

SMART Modular Technologies Inc (SMOD) in the last one year traded as high as $10.94 in December 2007 and as low as $2.63 in September 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $190.15 million.

Spectrum Control, Inc, a maker of electronic control systems said third quarter revenues fell 6% to $33.1 million from $35.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 23% to $2.4 million or 18 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $3.1 million or 22 cents per share, a year ago.

SYNNEX Corporation, a business services provider said third quarter revenues rose 16% to $2.05 billion from $1.76 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 53% to $22.1 million or 66 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $14.4 million or 44 cents per share, a year ago.

Texas Industries, Inc, a cement producer said first quarter revenues fell 2.7% to $256.4 million from $263.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 40% to $10.7 million or 38 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $17.9 million or 64 cents per share, a year ago.
