Net profit grew 17% sequentially on the back of the higher revenue growth.
Offshore billing rates were up by 0.7% and onsite rates increased by 0.6%. Based on the contract renegotiations that the company had in the last year and the rates at which new customers are coming in, the company is confident that the positive momentum seen in the billing rates in will continue in fiscal 2008 also. Net manpower addition was 1,265 for the parent company and includes 600 ELTPs, that is freshers.

Satyam Computer Services Second Quarter Earnings Call

Profit rose to 4.09 billion rupees, helped by other income of 1.10 billion rupees.
The software services exporter reported revenue increased 11% to 21.4 billion rupees ($539.51 million). Volume growth was at 9.1% year on year. The sales growth has been the strongest in six years, and Satyam has managed to counter the impact of a rupee that’s appreciated 12.5% against the dollar this year and 2% in the current quarter. Wages in India''s software sector are rising by about 10% to 15% a year. The company expects revenue to grow between 41.5% and 42% in 2008.

Satyam Computer Services First Quarter Earnings Call

The net profit grew to 3.78 billion rupees versus 3.54 billion rupees in the prior year quarter.
Satyam Computer Services, a leading information technology company of India, reported revenue growth of 10% in terms of dollars and 3% in terms of rupee. The 7% appreciation in value of the rupee negatively impacted the margins by 250 basis points. With the currency appreciation and higher wage rates, the Q2 margins are expected to take a hit of 350 basis points, while fiscal 2008 margins will be impacted by 125 basis points. For fiscal 2008, EPS is projected in the range of $1.17 and $1.19.
