Profit rose 55% on a jump in sales and lower expenses. The company also reaffirmed its 2009 outlook.
The IT management software company said that for fiscal 2009 it expects to earn $1.28 to $1.35 per share, or $1.45 to $1.52 per share excluding restructuring costs. Revenue is expected to decline between $4.5 billion and $4.6 billion. Net income for the latest quarter was $200 million, or 37 cents a share, compared with $129 million, or 24 cents a share, a year earlier. Excluding items, per-share earnings rose to 40 cents from 29 cents. Revenue rose 6% to $1.09 billion.

CA Earnings Call, Fourth Quarter 2008

The independent software company reported fourth quarter revenues of $1.085 billion, an increase of 8% from $1.005 billion reported in the same period last fiscal year. The management advised that fourth quarter GAAP earnings from continuing operations per diluted share increased to 13 cents from a loss of 4 cents in the fourth quarter last fiscal year.

CA Inc. Third Quarter Earnings Call

Revenue rose 10% to $1.1 billion from $1 billion reported in the comparable prior-year period due to growth in subscription revenue.
The software provider reported growth in income from continuing operations to $163 million, or 31 cents per share, from $52 million, or 10 cents per share, in the prior year period as a result of higher revenue, expense control and decrease in amortization of purchased software and restructuring costs. More streamlined sales organization and improved infrastructure and business processes are enabling the firm to better identify and capture customer opportunities.

CA Fourth Quarter Earnings Call

Revenue increased 7%, which was not enough to push the company to a profit for the period.
The information technology management software maker reported earnings loss of $20 million from a loss of $41 million in the period a year earlier. Q4 includes $100 million in restructuring charges. Earnings from continuing operations and excluding certain charges amounted to 20 cents per share. In 2007, the company repurchased about 51 million shares for about $1.2 billion. In 2008, revenue is expected to grow 3% to 4% on a constant-currency basis to a range of $4.05 billion to $4.1 billion.

Net income fell to $50 million compared to $57 million in the prior year, as the firm incurred $32 million restructuring charges.
CA Inc, an information technology management software maker, reported slightly more than $1 billion revenue versus $965 million in the prior year. The analysts’ had expected earnings of $984.9 million. The firm divested its remaining interest in a Korean joint venture, which represented about $6 million in revenue and expenses per quarter. The company renewed six license agreements valued over $40 million during the Q3. For fiscal 2007, the firm projects revenue of $3.9 billion.
