The firm is continuing to invest in technological innovation and expanding skills and capabilities through both organic and tactical acquisitions.
The consulting firm reported revenues of $6.1 billion, an increase of 20% in from $5.08 billion in the prior year due to increases in both outsourcing and consulting revenues. Consequently, operating income rose 27% to $862 million or 74 cents a share reflecting a 14.1% operating margin, from $682 million or 54 cents a share in 2007. The solid bookings achieved demonstrate continued global demand for Accenture’s services.

Profit increased 37% to $406.6 million on strong consulting and outsourcing demand.
Net revenue, which excludes reimbursements from clients for expenses such as consultants'' travel, rose to $5.61 billion from $4.75 billion. New bookings rose to $6.44 billion, including record consulting bookings of $3.79 billion. Effective tax rate was 17.8 %, driven primarily by benefits related to final determinations in the second quarter of fiscal 2008. Accenture expects profit of $2.55 per share to $2.60 per share for 2008, compared with a previous forecast of $2.36 to $2.41 per share.

Accenture First Quarter Earnings Call

Earnings per share were a quarterly record of 60 cents, an increase of 30% over EPS of 46 cents in the first quarter of last year.
The management and technology consultant reported record revenue of $5.7 billion, above its guidance range of $5.4 billion to $5.6 billion. During the quarter, the bookings of Accenture totaled $5.9 billion, including consulting bookings of $3.4 billion and outsourcing bookings of $2.5 billion. For fiscal 2008, the firm continues to target new bookings in the range of $24 billion to $26 billion and anticipates revenue growth to be in the range of 9% to 12% in local currency.

Profit decreased 9% to $316.8 million, absent a hefty year-ago tax benefit.
Management and technology consultant reported revenue increase of 27% to $5.57 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $4.9 billion. The company achieved double-digit revenue growth in U.S. dollars and growth in local currency across all of operating groups and geographies. The effective tax rate was 37%, due to a shift in income between countries. For 2008, profit is expected between $2.21 and $2.26 per share on revenue growth between 9% and 12%.

Profit rose to $345.4 million as it benefited from strong demand for company’s consulting services.
The revenue of the information technology firm grew to $5.08 billion, up 15% over the prior year quarter. Consulting revenue rose to $3.08 billion, an increase of 16% over the third quarter last year. Effective tax rate was 33.3%, which includes the effect of the reduction in the year-to-date tax rate from 34.9% to 34.3% as a result of changes in the forecasted geographic mix of income. In Q4, revenues are expected to be in the range of $4.8 billion to $5 billion.
