Royal Ahold Sales Rise 1.2%

Durch retailers with the U.S. operations, Royal Ahold reported a slight increase in sales and a surge in earnings on sale of its U.S. food services.
Dutch supermarket retailer Royal Ahold net sales rose 1.2% from the previous year to €28.2 billion after the acquisition of Clemens Markets and Konmar stores augmented revenues. Net income for the year grew by €2 billion to 2.9 billion euros on the sales of its U.S. FoodService and Polish operations. The company proposed a full-year dividend of 0.16 euro per share. The company plans to reduce debt in 2008 by €2 billion. Earnings per share in euros jumped to 2.03 from 58 cents.

ProSiebenSat.1 Profit Drops 63%

Net profit fell 63% to 89.4 million euros from 240.7 million euros in 2006.
The largest independent German broadcaster said profit in 2007 fell 63% to 89.4 million euros from 240.7 million euros after paying a fine of 120 million euros. Fiscal 2007 revenue climbed 29% to 2.70 billion from 2.09 billion euros prior year. Recent acquisition of SBS and rise in international revenue helped the revenue growth. The second largest broadcaster in Europe now operates 48 television stations in Germany, Scandinavia, and Eastern European region.

Earnings: Ciena, Vivus and Carrols

Ciena, telecom and networking equipment maker surged 11% after it reported a sharply higher earnings.
Ciena surged 11% after it reported first quarter revenue increase of 38% to $227.4 million and net income increase of 160%. Ciena traded as high as $29 after the earnings release. Vivus, theraputic company fourth quarter revenue tripled to $29.8 million and reported net income of $10.4 million. Carrols Restaurant revenue in the fourth quarter rose 4.5%.

Korn Ferry and E-House Decline

Korn Ferry, global recruitment firm issued an optimistic outlook. E-House, Chinese realtor reported rising earnings.
Korn Ferry revenue in the third quarter rose 22% to $201 million and earnings per share increased to 37 cents from 33 cents a year ago. The stock has been under pressure in the last nine months and has declined from a high of $27 to as low as $13. E-House China Limited fell after it reported fourth quarter revenue increase of 46% to $50.4 million and earnings rise of 32% to $22.4 million.

Joy Global Declines, Flow Int Rises

Flow International earnings tripled to 16 cents per share on 16% rise in sales in the third quarter. Joy Global earnings rises 18%.
Mining equipment maker Joy Global new orders in the first quarter rose 54% to $870 million. Net sales for the quarter increased 14% to $640 million versus $560 million of same quarter of 2007. Earnings per diluted share in the first quarter were $71.1 million, or $0.65 compared to $59.7 million or $0.51 in the year-ago quarter. Flow International revenue rose 18%.

Dynamic Materials fourth quarter revenue rose 55% to $55.2 million and net income edged to $6.9 million.
Dynamic Materials plunged 20% after it reported fourth quarter earnings that disappointed investors. The company also issued flat sales in the first quarter outlook. The stock fell sharply on 2.4 million trading volume or six times the average. Building Materials Holding plunged 15% after it reported fourth quarter sales decline of 30%.

Orbitz Worldwide Plunges 21% on Loss

Orbitz dropped to a new low below $6 after it reported twice the loss compared to a year ago.
Orbitz Worldwide declined to a new low after reporting fourth quarter loss of $11 million compared to $5 million a year ago. Revenues in the quarter rose 10% to $197 million and Losses per share were 13 cents. Net revenue for the year ended 2007 increased 14% to $859 million versus $752 million in 2006. Full year net loss declined to $85 million in 2007 compared to a net loss of $146 million in 2006.

Dynamex Rises 10% On Earnings

Package delivery company Dynamex expects sales in 2008 to rise between 10% and 15% and earnings between $1.40 and $1.50 a share.
Dynamex Inc, a provider of same day delivery services reported second quarter net income of $3.4 million or $0.33 fully diluted share compared to $3.7 million or $0.35 per share a year ago. Fiscal second quarter 2008 sales increased 10.9% to $112 million.

Urban Outfitters Sales Up 29%

Urban Outfitters fourth qaurter sales soared 29% to $465 million and earnings rose to $53 million.
Urban Outfitters, Inc, a casual apparel retailer reported net sales in the fourth quarter soared 29% to a record $465 million with earnings of $53.6 million. Earnings per diluted share were $0.32 for the quarter versus $ 0.21 in the comparable period in 2007. Blockbuster reported revenues increased 3.6% to $1.57 billion in for the fourth quarter of 2007 from $1.51 billion a year ago.

Longs Drug, Coldwater Creek Fall on Earnings

Longs Drug falls 15% after it reported earnings. Coldwater Creek pluges 22% after a weak sales guidance.
Blockbuster, Coldwater Creek, and Longs Drug fell after the release of earnings. Blockbuster revenue in the fourth quarter rose 3.6% and earnings increased to 50%. Coldwater Creek fourth quarter revenue declined 7% but earnings rose to $17 million from $15.9 million. Longs Drug fourth quarter sales rose 11% and earnings rose to $37.2 million.
