The company reported 4.9% decline in profit to $101 million from $106.1 million a year earlier. Quarterly revenue rose 30% to $1.57 billion from $1.2 billion a year ago. The company exceeded forecasts from analysts who had expected earnings of $1.43 per share and revenues of $1.35 billion. |

| Dollar General Corp, general merchandise retailer, reported Q1 earnings of 15 cents a share, down from a profit of 20 cents a share a year-ago. Net sales advanced 8.8% in Q1 to $2.15 billion, from $1.98 billion in the year-earlier equivalent period and same-store sales climbed 1.6%. The analysts’ estimate was for a profit of 16 cents a share. |
