| MasterCard enjoyed a sharp rise in earnings of 63% on revenue gain of 20%. International growth and weak dollar helped MasterCard to lift earnings above the estimate of most analysts. In local currencies, purchasing volume growth was led by 29% increase in South Asia, Middle East, and Africa, followed by increases in 23.9% in Latin America, in Asia Pacific of 22.2%, in Europe 16%, in Canada of 14%, and 9.4% in the U.S. MasterCard also increased its stock buyback plan. |

Sales at company owned locations increased 5% to $4.27 billion in the quarter and gained 12% to $1.62 billion at frachisee locations. Earnings per share increased 31% to 89 cents on higher sales in international locations. Same store sales in Asia jumped nearly 12% and at all international locations rose 6.9%. At the end of August, U.S. same store sales increased 5% and 11.2% across the system. |

| Apple reported earnings per share of $1.01 compared to 62 cents a year ago on revenue increase of 29%. Earnings rise of 67% was sharply higher than estimated by the analysts. Average earnings estimate for the quaarter was around 88 cents per share. Apple sold 10.2 million iPods representing 17% unit growth from a year ago. In the quarter the company sold 1.12 million iPhone units. The company guided earnings estimate of $1.42 in the next quarter on the revenue of $9.2 billion. |
