As the housing crisis takes its toll, the loss available to common stockholders deteriorated to $202.5 million, or $2.67 per common share, compared with a net loss of $80.5 million, or $1.27 per common share in the prior year. |

This increase was a result of a $410 million and a $350 million increase in new orders, for the surface mining equipment business and the underground mining equipments business respectively. Consequently, income strengthened 54% to $113 million or $1.03 per share. |
