Most European stocks slid reflecting extremely high crude-oil prices going beyond $59 a barrel. Averages in Germany fell 0.7%, in France declined 0.8%, and in the U.K. dropped 0.3%. In currency markets the euro was lower against the dollar at $1.2214.
